In a “past life” I designed content for New York theaters including program design, marketing and education assets, marquee animations, video editing, and more.

Animation reel featuring title cards and Times Square marquees for The New Victory Theater, as well as an animated cover for the novel The Night Circus from a personal project.

Above I’ve collected some of my video editing for just the 2020-2021 New Victory season, as well as the COVID shift into online Arts Edu program Arts Break. Just these three categories have over 200k views. The reach on the marquee on 42nd St in Times Square is impossible to know, but TSQ as a whole sees around 250k pedestrians a day.

I designed all kinds of print collateral for the New Victory and New 42, including but not limited to education activities, flyers, and posters, but program layout and design (above) for 15 shows a season was a highlight of my responsibilities.

Creating unique trailers and web ads for each upcoming show was another highlight. The challenge of distilling an entire work of theater into a 15-60 second video is very creatively exciting. The trailer for the entire 19-20 season (below) was particularly arduous but rewarding, we even got the rights to use one of my favorite songs!

In March of 2020, over the course of 24 panicked hours, the New Victory team pivoted our brand and content from an international travel themed 15-show season of live performances from all around the world with supporting activities (above) to an entirely digital multi-media arts education curriculum with daily new content for kids, families, and educators (below)—bringing some light and relief in a terrifying uncertain new world.

Between the 18-19 and 19-20 seasons, the New Victory Theater and New 42nd Street both refreshed their visual identities through a comprehensive rebranding effort in partner with an external design agency. Below I have a few before-and-after comparisons of institutional spreads in the NVT programs I designed from each season.
